For nearly three decades, O. Kayode & Co. has helped businesses protect what they build. Founded in Lagos in 1996 by Omolara (Lara) Kayode, the firm grew from a dedicated intellectual property practice into counsel trusted by domestic and international clients across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
Our work is grounded in day-to-day practice before Nigeria’s regulators and courts: prosecution before the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry, coordinated enforcement with NAFDAC, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Customs Service IPR unit, and litigation before the Federal High Court. Where a negotiated outcome serves clients better, the firm brings CEDR-accredited mediation to the table.
International work is part of the firm’s fabric. Through a trusted network of associate firms we handle matters across sub-Saharan Africa, and we act as local counsel for international firms whose clients need protection in Nigeria, a market that sits outside both ARIPO and OAPI and requires its own filing and enforcement strategy.
